EXAMPLE OF CONVERSATION

Here’s an example of directing a guest in a hotel:

Guest: Excuse me, can you tell me how to get to the restaurant from here?

Hotel staff: Certainly, the restaurant is located on the first floor of the hotel. You can take the elevator or the stairs down one level from the lobby to reach it.

Guest: Okay, thank you. And how about the fitness center?

Hotel staff: The fitness center is located on the 3rd floor. You can take the elevator up two levels from the lobby or use the stairs to reach it.

Guest: Great, thank you for your help.

Hotel staff: You’re welcome. If you need any further assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Guest: Excuse me, how do I get to the nearest tourist attraction from here?

Hotel staff: Of course, which tourist attraction are you interested in visiting?

Guest: I’d like to visit the famous museum downtown.

Hotel staff: Sure, to get to the museum from here, you can take a taxi or public transportation. There’s a bus stop just outside the hotel that will take you downtown. You can also ask the front desk for a map and directions if you prefer to walk.

Guest: Okay, thanks for the information. And is there a convenience store nearby?

Hotel staff: Yes, there’s a convenience store just a block away from the hotel. If you exit the hotel and turn right at the first intersection, you’ll see it on your left-hand side.

Guest: Perfect, thank you very much.

Hotel staff: You’re welcome. If you have any other questions or concerns during your stay, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

Guest: Excuse me, can you tell me how to get to the pool from here?

Hotel staff: Certainly, our pool is located on the 2nd floor of the hotel. You can take the elevator up one level from the lobby or use the stairs to reach it.

Guest: Okay, thank you. And is there a towel service at the pool?

Hotel staff: Yes, we do provide towel service at the pool. There are towels available in a cabinet near the entrance to the pool area.

Guest: Great, thank you for your help.

Hotel staff: You’re welcome. If you need anything else during your stay, such as food or drinks, there’s a poolside bar that can provide you with refreshments. Just let us know if you need any assistance with that.

EXAMPLE OF DIRECTING THE GUEST TO A PLACE

An example of directions from a guest room to the bar in a hotel:

“To get to the bar from your guest room, exit your room and turn right. Walk down the hallway until you reach the elevators. Take the elevator to the lobby level and exit to your right. Walk straight ahead past the front desk and you’ll see the bar on your left-hand side, just past the hotel restaurant.”

Of course, the actual directions may vary depending on the layout of the hotel and the location of the bar. It’s always a good idea to confirm the directions with hotel staff if you’re unsure or if you need to navigate a particularly large or complex property.

An example of directions from a classroom to the dean’s office:

“Exit the classroom and turn left. Walk down the hallway until you reach the main entrance of the building. Once outside, turn right and walk towards the administrative building. When you reach the administrative building, go inside and take the elevator or stairs to the second floor. Turn right and follow the signs for the Dean’s office. It should be the last door on your left.”

Again, the actual directions may vary depending on the layout of the building and the location of the Dean’s office. If you’re unsure, you can always ask for assistance or directions from a teacher, staff member, or another student.

An example of directions from a bar area to the car park:

“Exit the bar area and walk towards the lobby. From the lobby, take the elevator or stairs to the ground floor. Once on the ground floor, follow the signs for the car park or parking garage. When you reach the exit of the building, turn left and walk towards the designated car park area. Look for the signs indicating the correct level or row for your car.”

Again, the actual directions may vary depending on the layout of the establishment or building and the location of the car park. If you’re unsure, you can always ask for assistance or directions from the staff or security personnel.
